The CDA Book is a textbook written by Keith Boone and published by Springer. It is an educational companion to the official CDA specifications.

Keith is one of the leaders of the healthcare IT standards community and a widely acknowledged expert on CDA and C-CDA, among many other HL7 standards, as well as standards from other organizations such as Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE).

Outside of the HL7 specifications themselves, The CDA Book is probably the most widely read text by those working with CDA.

Also widely read is Keith’s blog on Healthcare Standards.

On a personal note, CDA PRO probably would not exist if it wasn’t for Keith, his blog, and his book. The book and blog taught us, and continues to teach us, a great deal – and Keith has always taken time to answer questions and provide guidance.
